
Wranglers edge Salmon Kings 4-3

Victoria, BC - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (4-0-0, 8 points) defeated the Victoria Salmon Kings (1-2-0, 2 points) 4-3 at the Save On Foods Memorial Centre on Friday night. Center Chris Ferraro scored the game-winning goal on the power play with 6:20 left in regulation. Winger Bruce Mulherin netted his second straight two-goal game as the Wranglers won their 17th straight regular season game. Goalie John Curry stopped 29 of 32 Victoria shots, improving to 4-0-0 on the season. Las Vegas will stay in Victoria for the final game of a two-game set at 7:00 pm Saturday night.
Both teams traded goals in the first period with Victoria striking first. The Salmon Kings took advantage of a 5-on-3 power play midway through the opening period. Forward Ryan Wade blasted a shot from the blueline that went in off the pads of Las Vegas goalie John Curry, giving Victoria a 1-0 lead. Las Vegas countered with a late goal, winger Bruce Mulherin snapped a shot from the left-wing circle that beat Salmon Kings goalie Billy Thompson, tying the game 1-1 with 42-seconds remaining in the first period.
In the second period, Las Vegas took a one-goal lead 1:33 into the period as Adam Cracknell scored his second goal of the season for the 2-1 lead. The Salmon Kings countered less than three minutes later as Kevin Estrada poked in a loose puck in the Las Vegas slot for his first goal of the season. With the score knotted 2-2, Las Vegas tallied a power-play goal to claim a 3-2 lead. The Ferraro twins cycled the puck to the front of the net for Bruce Mulherin, who scored his fourth goal of the season 21-seconds after Victoria had tied the game.
In the third period, Victoria quickly tied the game 3-3 as Ash Goldie snapped a wrist shot past John Curry just 6:35 into the final period. After Victoria defenseman Dylan Yeo was whistled for high sticking, the Wranglers tallied the game-winning goal due to the power play. Defenseman Gerry Burke fired a shot on net the was stopped, Chris Ferraro knocked in the rebound for the 4-3 lead at 12:40.
The Wranglers will remain in Victoria for Saturday's game, then return home on Friday, November 2nd to host Utah at the Orleans Arena at 7:05 pm. Las Vegas will wear pink jerseys for next Friday's game as part of Pink in the Rink. The jerseys will be auctioned after the game with a portion of the proceeds going to Breast Cancer Awareness.

The Wranglers play all 36 home games at the Orleans Arena, located at the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue. Las Vegas will host Opening Night on Sunday, October 21st at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena.
