West Valley City, UT - Ryan Kinasewich scored on a breakaway with 2:40 expired in overtime, as the Grizzlies erased a 4-2 deficit midway through the third period and shocked the Steelheads with a 5-4 victory in front of 5,130 fans at the E-Center on Friday night.

Trailing 4-2 halfway through the final frame, former Steelhead Scott Burt netted his second goal of the evening to bring the Grizzlies (1-3-0) within one, converting on a right circles snap shot that snuck underneath Steelheads' goaltender John Daigneau (19 saves). Michael Haley and Travis Rycroft nabbed the assists.

Then, with just 14.6 seconds left in regulation and goaltender Mike Mole (27 saves) at the bench for an extra attacker, Haley found a bouncing puck in the Steelheads' (1-0-2) slot and smacked the disc past Daigneau to send the home crowd into a frenzy. Jason Pitton and Keith Johnson set up the play.

Prior to overtime, both teams played a physical and intense contest featuring three fights and 52 combined penalty minutes.

The Grizzlies got the game's first goal off a breakaway by Justin Bourne at 9:12 of the opening period. Rookie winger Christian Gaudet and Pitton picked up the assists on Bourne's even-strength goal, his second of the season and the club's first opening period tally of the campaign.

Through 20 minutes of play, the Steelheads trailed 1-0 despite out-shooting the Grizzlies 7-3.

Taggart Desmet pulled the Steelheads even with a power play goal at 8:54 of the second period, tipping a Mark Bombersback offering underneath the pads of Mole for his first goal of the season. Rookie defenseman Jeremy Scherlinck registered the other assist, his first professional point.

Under two minutes later, Burt put the Grizzlies back in front, gathering a bouncing puck at the side of the crease and wristing a shot over the shoulder of Daigneau. Rycroft, the Grizzlies' captain, notched the only helper on Burt's first goal in a Grizzlies' sweater.

However, the Steelheads dead-locked the contest at 2-2 on their second shorthanded marker of the year, coming at 14:15 of the period. On the play, Greg Rallo poked the puck past the Grizzlies' defense and broke in on a left wing, two-on-one rush with Brent Shepheard. After looking off Shepheard, Rallo ripped a snap shot just inside the short side post for his first marker of the season.

In the third period, the Steelheads took their first lead of the night on a point shot by Blake Forsyth that found its way through traffic and past Mole for a power play goal. Colin Sinclair and Aaron Gagnon got the assists on Forsyth's first goal and second point of the season. Less than two minutes later, Gagnon made it 4-2 on a power play goal that saw Desmet and Richard Clune get the assists.

The final shots favored the Steelheads 31-24, as they dropped their second overtime tilt of the season. The visitors ended a season-best, two-for-five on the power play, while the Grizzlies went zero-for-four.

The Steelheads wrap up their two-game set against the Grizzlies on Saturday, October 27. Face-off from the E-Center is at 7:07 p.m. MST. Don't forget, Steelheads' single-game tickets can be purchased via www.idahosteelheads.com (using the print-at-home feature), by calling 331-TIXS or from the Qwest Arena box office.
