Alaska Aces News Release

FRESNO, Calif. - Kimbi Daniels had a goal and two assists and Chris Beckford-Tseu recorded 31 saves as Alaska cruised past Fresno 5-1 before 3,708 Friday night at Save-Mart Center.

The teams fired a combined 28 shots on goal over the opening 20 minutes, with the Aces breaking through on a wrist shot by Tomas Kana, directly off a draw, that sailed over Fresno starter John Ceci's shoulder at 13:30. Bo Cheesman pushed the lead to 2-0 off the rush with 1:41 left in the period, redirecting a centering pass from Bryan Miller through the five-hole.

Daniels shoveled home his second goal in as many games at 12:18 of the second period, and when Matt Shasby found Barrett Heisten on the back door for a tap-in with Alaska on the power play three minutes later, the Aces had a commanding 4-0 lead. Jarrett Konkle stuffed in a loose puck to deny Beckford-Tseu a potential shutout with 2:28 left in the period, but the Falcons (now 1-1-2) would not score again.

Josh Soares scored his first professional goal 4:27 into the final period to account for the final margin, set up by Daniels and Miller. Beckford-Tseu now boasts a 24-2-2 record in 28 regular season starts with Alaska (2-1), which is now 16-5-1 in 22 games at the Save-Mart Center.

The Aces finish up their four-game trip to open the season by traveling two hours north to Stockton for tomorrow night's match with the 1-3 Thunder, who will be playing host to their home opener, at 6:35 p.m. AST. All regular season games will be broadcast live on Alaska's flagship station, AM 750 KFQD, with coverage beginning 15 minutes prior to the opening face-off. Alaska meets Florida Friday, November 2, at 7:15 p.m., in the opener of a three-game series pitting last year's National and American conference finalists at Sullivan Arena. The teams play again Saturday at 7:15 and Sunday at 5:05 p.m., followed by a Fred Meyer "Skate with the Aces."
