LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

@ Worcester (12/13): Right wing A.J. Gale scored twice to lift the Manchester Monarchs over the Worcester Sharks, 3-1, at the DCU Center on Friday night. Defenseman Andrew Campbell scored his first goal of the season to add to Gale's pair of tallies for the Monarchs. Right wing Daniil Tarasov scored the lone goal for the Sharks. Monarchs goaltender J.F. Berube (8-4-2) earned his eighth win of the season stopping 39-of-40 shots. Sharks netminder Troy Grosenick (5-3-0) took his third loss of the season making 22 saves on 25 shots. Manchester was 0-for-5 on the power play. Worcester went 1-for-8 with the man advantage.

@ Adirondack (12/14): The Manchester Monarchs solved their special team troubles as they collected two power play goals in a 5-3 victory over the Adirondack Phantoms at Glens Falls Civic Center on Saturday night. Defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk scored a powerplay goal at 5:29 in the first putting the Monarchs on the board at 1-0. Defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk, left wing Nick Deslauriers, right wing Scott Sabourin, and center Jordan Weal (two) all scored goals for the Monarchs. Center Nick Cousins, defenseman Cullen Eddy, and forward Rob Bordson picked up goals for the Phantoms. Monarchs goaltender J.F. Berube (9-4-2) earned his ninth win of the season stopping 32-of-35 shots. Phantoms netminder Cal Heeter (8-8-0) took his eighth loss of the season making 13 saves on 17 shots. Phantoms goaltender Carsen Chubak (0-0-0) stopped 15-of-16 shots in relief duty. Manchester was 2-for-6 on the power play. Adirondack went 1-for-3 with the man advantage.

vs. Bridgeport (12/15): Left wing Tanner Pearson scored his first professional hat trick in the Manchester Monarchs 3-1 win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Sunday night. Right wing Sean Wiles scored the lone goal for the Sound Tigers. Goaltender J.F. Berube (10-4-2) earned his 10th win of the season stopping 24-of-25 shots. Sound Tigers netminder Anders Nilsson (4-7-1) took his seventh loss of the season making 18 saves on 21 shots. Manchester was 0-for-6 on the power play. Bridgeport went 0-for-4 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

The Manchester Monarchs (19-5-1-4) are ranked first in the Atlantic Division with 43 points. The St. John's IceCaps (15-11-1-2) are in second place in the division with 33 points. The Providence Bruins (14-9-1-3) sit in third place in the division with 32 points. The Portland Pirates (10-9-1-4) are ranked fourth in the Atlantic Division with 25 points. The Worcester Sharks (10-10-1-1) are in fifth place in the division with 22 points.

The Monarchs are ranked 28th in the American Hockey League on the power play with 14 goals on 114 attempts. Manchester is ranked sixth in the league on the penalty kill stopping their opponent 111-of-131 times.

Manchester is undefeated in regulation in their last nine home games (8-0-0-1).

At home, the Monarchs are undefeated on Saturday games with a record of 5-0-0-0. Manchester is also undefeated in regulation on Saturdays with a 10-0-0-1 overall record.

With the Monarchs 3-1 win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Sunday, the Monarchs broke their winless streak on Sundays this season. They now have a 1-1-1-2 record on Sundays.

The Monarchs were undefeated on home ice, 6-0-0-0, throughout the month of November, and collected a 9-2-0-1 overall record for the month. Thus far in December, Manchester is 4-2-0-1.

Manchester set a new season record for the fastest three goals combined as Monarchs center Jordan Weal and right wing Scott Sabourin combined with Adirondack Phantoms center Nick Cousins for three goals just three minutes and 24 seconds apart on Saturday night. The fastest all-time three goals in Monarchs history were scored 43 seconds apart.

The Monarchs gave up 17 shots in a single period for the fourth time this season in the second period of Saturday's game against the Phantoms; a season high for shots in a period by an opponent.

Weal (6-17=23) leads the Monarchs with 17 assists and 23 points.

Weal is tied for 11th place in AHL with 17 assists.

Weal collected two goals in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Phantoms. This is only the second time in his career that Weal has scored twice in one game. Weal scored two goals in the Monarchs 5-2 win over the Pirates on January 20, 2013.

Right wing Brandon Kozun (6-15=21) ranks second on the Monarchs with 21 points.

Kozun ranks in the top 10 all-time in the following Monarchs categories:

Goals - 75 - third place

Assists - 96 - fifth place

Points - 171 - third place

Power Play Goals - 24 - third place

Game-Winning Goals - 17 - first place

Shots - 512 - nineth place

Left wing Nick Deslauriers (10-9=19) ranks third on the Monarchs with 19 points.

Deslauriers leads the Monarchs with 10 goals and ranks second on the team with 46 penalty minutes.

Left wing Tanner Pearson (10-6=16) is fourth on the Monarchs with 16 points.

Pearson recorded his first hat trick in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Sound Tigers.

Pearson recorded one point, a goal, in six games with the Kings from November 13 to December 3.

Sabourin (8-7=15) and defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk (5-10=15) are tied for fith place on the Monarchs with 15 points each.

Sabourin also ranks third on the team with eight goals.

Over the last six games, Sabourin has collected seven points (2-5=7).

Bodnarchuk has four points (1-3=4) in his last three games.

Bodnarchuk also leads the Monarchs and the American Hockey League with a plus/minus rating of plus-21.

Right wing Tyler Toffoli (7-5=12) is seventh on the Monarchs roster with 12 points.

Toffoli has eight goals and seven assists for 15 points in 20 games with the Los Angeles Kings. He was recalled on November 1, 2013.

Toffoli is ranked fourth on the Monarchs with seven goals.

Right wing Linden Vey (3-8=11) is in eighth place on the Monarchs with 11 points.

Vey has five assists in 13 games with the Kings since being recalled on November 1, 2013.

Left wing Andy Andreoff (4-6=10) ranks ninth on the Monarchs with 10 points.

Andreoff leads the team with 66 penalty minutes.

Defenseman Vincent LoVerde (0-9=9) ranks second on the Monarchs and in the AHL with a plus-18 rating.

Right wing A.J. Gale (3-0=3) picked up his first multi-goal and multi-point game with two tallies in Friday's 3-1 win over the Sharks.

Goaltender Martin Jones was recalled by the Kings on November 13, 2013.

Jones made his National Hockey League debut with the Kings against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday, December 3. He backstopped the Kings to a 3-2 shootout victory, including going 9-for-9 in the shootout.

Jones picked up his first NHL shutout by stopping all 16 shots he faced in the Kings 3-0 victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday, December 7.

The rookie netminder then stopped all 31 shots he faced in the Monarchs 6-0 shutout of the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, December 10.

In five consecutive games with the Kings, Jones has an undefeated record of 5-0-0, a .967 save percentage, a 0.99 goals-against-average, and two shutouts.

Jones had a record of 9-2-2 with a 2.24 goals-against-average, a .927 save percentage and one shutout when he was recalled on Wednesday, November 13.

Jones ranks in the top 10 all-time in the following Monarchs goaltending categories:

Games played - 149 - first place

Wins - 77 - first place

Losses - 56 - first place

Ties/Shootout Losses - 9 - tied for second place

Goals-against-average - 2.45 - eighth place

Save percentage - .921 - tied for seventh place

Shutouts - 11 - third place

Saves - 4,040 - first place

Goaltender Jean-Francios Berube is 10-3-2 in his last 15 starts, all consecutive games since Jones' recall to the Kings.

Berube has collected a 10-4-2 record with a 2.40 goals-against-average and a .919 save percentage.
