Rockford IceHogs News Release

Week 11 Recap:

Going into Week 11 on a three-game point streak, the Rockford IceHogs were looking to continue the streak through a three games in three days weekend set against the Oklahoma City Barons and Iowa Wild. Friday night was the start of the busy weekend as Oklahoma City came to the BMO"ˆHarris Bank Center for the first time this season. The IceHogs had been winless against the Barons at home all-time, but three first period goals helped the Hogs take the victory. The next night, Rockford scored three power play goals, but the Barons tied the game three separate times. The game would be decided in a shootout, where the IceHogs converted three-of-four to take the 5-4 victory. The busy weekend came to an end with a trip to nearby Iowa. Despite the penalty kill stopping all seven chances for the Wild, the IceHogs dropped a 3-1 decision.

Bacon Bits:

-Goaltender Mac Carruth picked up his first career AHL win on Friday, stopping 27 of the 30 shots he faced to help knock off the Barons 4-3

-Veteran forward Brad Winchester registered his first multi-goal game of the season on Friday with two markers, including the game-winner

-Friday's win over Oklahoma City was the first time the IceHogs have knocked off the Barons on home ice in eight all-time meetings (1-6-1-0) at the BMO Harris Bank Center

-Defenseman Adam Clendening dished out an assist in all three games for Rockford over the weekend and now shows helpers in his last four games (4a)

-The Hogs saw their three game winning streak and five game point streak snapped in Sunday's 3-1 loss at Iowa

-The game in Iowa on Sunday was the first time that the IceHogs have played at Wells Fargo Arena since March 20, 2009

-With the 3-1 loss on Sunday to the Wild, the IceHogs have not won a game in Iowa since Oct. 17, 2008 when they beat the then Iowa Chops 6-3

-The Hogs penalty kill unit was struggling heading into Week 11 but only allowed one power play tally on 15 times short-handed (94%) over the weekend

-After signing a PTO with the IceHogs on Tuesday, goaltender Allen York made his IceHogs debut in Iowa on Sunday

-Rockford is York's third stop in the AHL this season as the netminder has also seen action with the Texas Stars and Charlotte Checkers

-Goaltender Kent Simpson became the 60th player to play in the NHL after skating in Rockford when he made his NHL debut with the Blackhawks in relief of Antti Raanta on Saturday

Hot Hog: Week 11

Brad Winchester, Left Wing

The Madison, Wisconsin native began the week recording his first multi-goal game of the season with two tallies, including the game-winner, in the IceHogs 4-3 victory over Oklahoma City. The following night, Winchester helped setup a late third period goal by Terry Broadhurst as the Hogs eventually knocked off the Barons in a shootout, 5-4.
