Hershey Bears News Release
The Hershey Bears Hockey Club took four out of six possible points last week, beginning with a come-from-behind 4-3 shootout victory at Binghamton on Wednesday. Behind Patrick Wellar's first goal of the season, the Bears took an early lead, only to see the Senators strike for three unanswered goals by Mark Stone, Mike Hoffman and Andre Petersson to take a 3-1 lead early in the third. But the Bears dug down and earned goals from Stanislav Galiev and Michael Latta to force extra time. Ryan Stoa netted the game-winner in the shootout and Galiev provided the insurance tally in the fourth round. David Leggio stopped 39 shots and was perfect in the shootout in a first-star performance.
A three-point night from Nicolas Deschamps would not be enough on Friday, as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins rode a strong first period from Brian Gibbons and the hosts' power play en route to a 5-3 win. Deschamps scored shorthanded and at even strength, and set up Stoa's fifth of the season.
The Senators once again fell victim to the Bears on Saturday, as a penalty-filled affair would overshadow the conditioning assignment of 2009 and 2010 Calder Cup champion goaltender Michal Neuvirth. The Bears battled through, however, behind a two-goal night from Julien Brouillette, a three-point effort from Matt Watkins and 33 saves from Neuvirth in a 7-4 thumping. Galiev, Stoa, Nathan Walker and Brandon Segal all lit the lamp for the Bears.
