IceCaps Re-Assign Hutchinson, Release Ehrhardt

The St. John's IceCaps announced today they have re-assigned goaltender Michael Hutchinson to the Ontario Reign of the ECHL and released defenceman Travis Ehrhardt from his PTO (professional try-out) contract.

Hutchinson, 23, played in one game with the IceCaps since his recall on Saturday. He will return to Ontario where he has played in 17 games so far this season. In that time, the 6'3 goaltender has earned a 13-2-2 record, 1.91 goals against average and .928 save percentage.

The Barrie, ON native had previously played in 87 career AHL games, all with the Providence Bruins, for a 39-37-5 career record.

He was originally drafted by the Boston Bruins in the third round, 33rd overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Ehrhardt, 24, played eight games with the IceCaps this season, scoring one goal and collecting four minutes in penalties. The Calgary, AB native was undrafted and has played in 146 AHL games.
