Syracuse, NY - Crunch forward Ray Kaunisto has been released from his professional tryout contract, Crunch General Manager Julien BriseBois announced today.
Kaunisto, 26, scored one goal in six games with the Crunch since signing a PTO Nov. 29. He scored in his first game with Syracuse, a 4-2 win over the St. John's IceCaps. Kaunisto has appeared in 13 games for the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL this season, recording five assists. The Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. native has appeared in 149 career AHL games, collecting 37 points (16g, 21a) with Manchester, St. John's and Syracuse. Kaunisto has played in 65 career ECHL contests, earning 28 points (7g, 21a) for Colorado and Kalamazoo. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound center played four years for Northern Michigan University earning 62 points (36g, 26a) in 161 NCAA games.
