LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

Vs. Hartford (11/9): Right wing Hugh Jessiman scored his first goal of the season in the Hartford Wolf Pack's 5-4 victory over the Manchester Monarchs at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night. The Monarchs collected tallies from center David Meckler and right wings Kevin Westgarth, Teddy Purcell and Lauri Tukonen. The Wolf Pack topped Manchester with goals from defenseman Andrew Hutchinson (2), right wing Greg Moore and right wing Francis Lessard. Monarchs goaltender Erik Ersberg took is first loss in four games stopping 25-of-30 shots. Wolf Pack netminder Al Montoya earned the win with 31 saves. Manchester went 1-for-4 on the power play. Hartford was 3-for-6 with the man advantage.

Vs. Lowell (11/10): Right wing Barry Tallackson scores two goals in the Lowell Devil's 5-3 victory over the Manchester Monarchs in front of 6,435 fans at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday night. Monarchs center Marc-Andre Cliche scored his first professional goal and center Gabe Gauthier and right wing Teddy Purcell added to the scoreboard. The Devils defeated Manchester with goals by Tallackson (2), former Monarchs left wing Noah Clarke, left wing Mark Pandolfo and center Ivan Khomutov. Monarchs goaltender Dan Cloutier stopped 19-of-20 shots before leaving the game early in the second period. Netminder Erik Ersberg replaced Cloutier and made 12 saves on 15 shots. Devils goaltender Frank Doyle stopped 36 shots for the win. Manchester went 1-for-2 on the power play. Lowell was 1-for-4 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

The Monarchs (5-6-1-1) dropped to seventh place in the Atlantic Division following the two losses last weekend. Manchester currently has 12 points.

The Atlantic Division is the tightest division in the AHL as only five points separate the first place team, the Providence Bruins at 17 points, and the last place team, the Monarchs.

The Monarchs power play sits atop the AHL with a 26.7-percentage and the penalty kill is in 28th place with 73.7-percent.

The Monarchs have the best home power play record as they have scored 11 goals on 34 opportunities at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Manchester has scored five power play tallies on the road for ninth place in the league.

10 of the 13 Monarchs games thus far this season have been determined by one goal. The Monarchs are 4-4-1-1 in one goal games, 1-1-0-0 in two goal games and 0-1-0-0 in three goal games.

Center Gabe Gauthier (5-15=20) is tied with linemate and right wing Teddy Purcell (7-13=20) for the Monarchs scoring lead with 20 points in 13 games.

Gauthier's 15 assists also lead the Monarchs.

Gauthier has scored at least one point in 12-of-13 games this season.

Gauthier and Purcell's 20 points are also tied for first place in the AHL in overall scoring.

Gauthier's 15 assists are tied for first in the AHL in that category.

Nine of Gauthier's 15 assists this season have come on the power play which ties him for second place in the AHL for power play assists.

Two of Gauthier's four goals are game-winning goals which tie him for second place in the league for game-winners.

Gauthier is on a six game point-streak, collecting nine points (2-7=9) since October 27.

The second year center also has seven assists in his last five games.

Purcell has scored at least one point in 11-of-13 games this season.

Purcell's 20 points are tied for first among rookies in the AHL.

His 13 assists are tied for third place in the AHL in that category and rank second among rookies.

Purcell's four power play goals are tied for first among AHL rookies and tied for ninth overall in the League.

Purcell is on a six game points streak, collecting 10 points (5-5=10) since October 27.

The rookie right wing's three-game goal-scoring streak is the longest Monarchs goal streak this season. Purcell has three goals in three games dating back to November 4.

Purcell also has four assists in his last four games.

Defenseman Peter Harrold leads Monarchs blueliners with 11 points (1-10=11) in 12 games.

Eight of Harrold's 10 assists have come on the power play which ties him for fourth in the AHL for power play assists.

The second year defenseman is also ranked second among defensemen with 10 assists and fourth with his 11 points.

Defenseman Brian Boyle is tied for fourth place on the Monarchs squad this season and is tied for sixth place among AHL defensemen with nine points (3-6=9).

Boyle also ranks first among AHL rookies and defensemen with 45 shots on goal this season.

Center David Meckler has scored the first goal of the game twice in the Monarchs 11 games this season. He is tied for seventh place in the first goal of the game category in the AHL.

Three of Meckler's four goals have come against the Springfield Falcons this season.

Right wing Vladimir Dravecky and Purcell lead the Monarchs in the plus/minus category with a plus-3.

Center Marc-Andre Cliche scored his first professional goal on Saturday, November 10 against the Lowell Devils.

Right wing Kevin Westgarth is tied for ninth place in the AHL in penalty minutes with 46 in 11 games and is ranked first among rookies. He has four major penalties that rank first among rookies.

Left wing Matt Moulson is on recall with the Los Angeles Kings. He was originally recalled on his birthday, Thursday, November 1 and made his debut with the Kings versus the San Jose Sharks on Friday, November 2. Moulson collected his first NHL goal in the 4-2 win for the Kings in his debut. In three games with the Kings, Moulson has one point (1-0=1) and six shots. Moulson practiced with the Monarchs on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week before flying back out to Los Angeles Wednesday night.

11/7/07: The Los Angeles Kings (NHL) recalled left wing Matt Moulson from the Manchester Monarchs (AHL).

Monarchs Visit Hannaford - Left wing Paul Crosty and defenseman Joe Piskula will be at the Hannaford in Londonderry on Wednesday, November 14 signing autographs and visiting with fans from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Monarchs Host Hat Night - The first 4,000 fans to the Monarchs game on Friday, November 16 against the Portland Pirates will receive a Monarchs hat, courtesy of Executive Health & Sports Center.

Monarchs Honor Those Who Serve With American Pride Night - The Monarchs will recognize New Hampshire's fire, police and military service men and women when they host the Springfield Falcons on Saturday, November 17 at 7:05 p.m. The team will wear specialty camouflage jerseys in honor of the military, courtesy of the Armed Forces Connection. The Monarchs Care Foundation will give away nine jerseys through a raffle and 16 jerseys will be available through both a silent auction and a live auction with proceeds benefiting the New Hampshire Gold Star Mother's Memorial. Each fan in attendance on November 17 will receive a raffle card upon entry. Three raffle numbers will be announced during each period. The fans whose numbers match those announced during the game will each win a game-worn jersey.
