STARS RECAP
Tuesday, November 6
Stars 4 Peoria 3 (SO) at Wells Fargo Arena
Toby Petersen had a hat trick and Marty Sertich scored the only goal of the shootout to lead the Stars to the shootout win, the second for the Stars over the Rivermen in a shootout this season. It was also the second time that they have rallied from a two-goal third period deficit to take two points from Peoria. Petersen's hat trick was the first of his Iowa Stars career and the fourth in Iowa Stars history. The most recent three-goal effort was by Marius Holtet on March 18 of last season at San Antonio. Petersen's first goal gave the Stars a 1-0 lead at 15:41 of the first period. Peoria then responded with two second period goals from Trent Whitfield followed by Nicolas Drazenovic's tally two minutes into the third period to make the score 3-1. That is when Petersen took over, scoring goals at 3:11 and 7:28, to force the game into overtime.
After a scoreless overtime, Stars netminder Tobias Stephan stopped all five shots he saw, running his shootout results to eight saves on nine shots against the Rivermen this season. Trevor Byrne and Junior Lessard each added two assists in the win.
Friday, November 9
Stars 6 Peoria 3 at Peoria
Toby Petersen scored twice and the Stars scored five unanswered goals on their way to their second win of the week over the Rivermen. After Petersen gave the Stars a 1-0 lead in the first period, the Rivermen scored three straight to take a 3-1 advantage. But, just 15 seconds after the Rivermen made it 3-1, James Neal scored his first pro goal, sending the game to the first intermission at 3-2. The Stars played a strong second period, scoring twice to tie the game then take the lead at 4-3. Janos Vas scored his fourth of the season shorthanded to tie the game at 12:41 with Chris Lee scoring on a delayed penalty 2:02 later to give the Stars the lead. Petersen and Joel Lundqvist added goals in the third period to wrap up the scoring. The Stars went 1-9 on the power play while Tobias Stephan stopped 20 of 23 shots to win his third in a row and fourth in his last five starts. The win put the Stars above .500 for the first time since 10/17 at 7-6-0-0 and gave them a 3-0 record versus Peoria this season. Lundqvist finished with a goal and two assists while Marty Sertich added a pair of assists for the Stars.

He also assisted on Scalzo's game winner at 2:50 of the third. Janos Vas added some insurance just 9 seconds later to make the final 3-1. The win was the first in three tries this season for the Stars over the Rampage. It is also the first time that the Stars have had a four game winning streak since March 16-23 of last season.
