
Middlebrooks Powers Sea Dogs to a 7-4 Victory

Portland, Maine- Will Middlebrooks doubled, homered and drove-in four runs to lead the Sea Dogs to a 7-4 victory over the Binghamton Mets Monday night at Hadlock Field.
The Sea Dogs scored five times in the bottom of the seventh to break a 2-2 lead in route to the 7-4 win. The inning was highlighted by a two run homer by Middlebrooks to centerfield off Erik Turgeon, it was Middlebrooks' 11th home run of the season.
Brad Holt suffered the loss for Binghamton surrendering three runs (two earned) in the seventh inning.
Cesar Cabral (2-4) earned the win tossing an inning and a third of shutout ball yielding two hits.
The Mets scored two runs in the ninth off Charle Rosario and brought the tying run to the plate with two outs. Blake Maxwell entered the game for Portland; he was able to get Salomon Manriquez to ground out to third on one pitch to earn his ninth save.
Portland jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first off 2010 Mets first round draft pick Matt Harvey. Ryan Khoury walked and Chih-Hsien Chiang ripped his 32nd double of the season. The double was Chiang's 66th career double in a Sea Dogs uniform, tying him with Brandon Moss for the career franchise record. With two runners on, MIddlebrooks hit a line drive double to left field scoring both runners.
Alex Wilson surrendered a season high nine hits but was able to hold the Mets to two runs in 5.2 innings. He struck out six and did not walk a batter and now sports a 2.87 ERA. The Mets were able to scratch across two runs in the second off Wilson including a RBI double off the bat of Raul Reyes.
Harvey pitched well for the Mets tossing five solid innings, only allowing the two runs in the first. He notched nine strikeouts.
The series will continue Tuesday night at 7:00 PM at Hadlock Field. Right-handed pitcher Michael Lee (1-4, 5.33) will start for the Sea Dogs. He will be opposed by Binghamton righty Brandon Moore (6-7, 4.14). Christopher will entertain the fans between innings as he makes his lone appearance of the season at Hadlock Field, made possible by U.S. Cellular.
