Ballard Named Pitcher of the Week

BOWIE, Md. - Baysox starting pitcher Mike Ballard has been named Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending Sunday, July 17. Ballard is the second Baysox pitcher to win the award this year and the first since Zach Clark won it for the week ending May 1, 2011.

Ballard went 1-0 during the week with a 1.93 ERA in 14.0 innings pitched. On Sunday, he held the Richmond Flying Squirrels to one run on six hits and no walks while striking out four. On the season, Ballard is 5-0 with a 3.06 ERA over 53.0 innings with Bowie. The southpaw has struck out 54 batters while only walking three.
