SeaWolves Take Down Trenton 5-4 In Game One

SeaWolves win game one of three game series in Trenton 5-4.

Erie scored first as they plated two in the top of the second. Deik Scram led of the inning with a walk. With two outs, Michael Bertram also reached via a walk. Justin Henry drove in the game's first run with a single back up the middle. Erie picked up another run with the help of walks to Bryan Holaday and Jamie Johnson. Erie 2 Trenton 0

Trenton answered right back in the bottom of the second picking up one. Rob Lyerly led off the inning with a single, followed by a double by Addison Maruszak putting runners on second and third. With one out, Ray Kruml grounded out to drive in Lyerly. Erie 2 Trenton 1

Trenton tied the game in the bottom of the third. Austin Romine led off with a single to left field. With two outs, Zoilo Almonte drove a ball between second base and shortstop to plate Romine. Erie 2 Trenton 2

Erie took the lead back in the fifth plating two. With one out, Jamie Johnson doubled to right center, followed by a Bryan Pounds walk Rawley Bishop picked up his team leading 46 RBI. Scram followed by driving in one more on a sac fly. Erie 4 Trenton 2

Erie picked up one more run in the top of the sixth to take a 3 run lead. Henry singled with two outs. After a walk to Holaday, Johnson drove a ball past a diving first baseman to plate Henry. Erie 5 Trenton 2

Trenton chipped away at the lead in the bottom of the sixth as they plate one. Lyerly started inning with a single, followed by a Maruszak walk. Yadil Mujica hit an infield single to load the bases for Kruml. Kruml received a five pitch walk to plate Lyerly. Erie 5 Trenton 3

Trenton's Maruszak led of the eighth with a solo home run to left field to trim the lead off of reliever Luis Marte. Erie 5 Trenton 4 and that is as close as they get as SeaWolves take game 1.

The win went to Casey Crosby (6-3) who went five innings giving up three runs on ten hits with five walks and with four strike outs. Austin Wood got his fourth save in relief going 0.2 innings. The loss goes to Dellin Bentances (4-4) working 5 innings allowing four runs on four hits with five walks.

SeaWolves and Thunder back in action Tuesday with a 7:05 pm first pitch. Jay Voss takes the mound for Erie (5-4, 4.07 ERA). Trenton will send LHP Shaeffer Hall (7-4, 4.20 ERA)
