Syracuse Mets News Release

Durham, NC - The Syracuse Mets had an off night on offense in a 5-0 loss to the Durham Bulls on Tuesday evening at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Syracuse's bullpen combined for three perfect innings pitched between Ryan O'Rourke and Brooks Pounders.

Durham (64-50) started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Dalton Kelly walked to start the frame, moved to second base on a wild pitch, and advanced to third on a Kean Wong groundout to the right side of the infield. Nate Lowe followed with an RBI single to give the Bulls a 1-0 lead.

In the second, Michael Perez singled, and both Kevin Padlo and Jason Coats walked to load the bases. Two batters later, Rocky Gale singled to left field to score Perez and Padlo and push the score to 3-0. Then, after Kelly reached on an error, Wong singled to left field to extend the lead to 4-0.

In the fourth, the Bulls again loaded the bases thanks to a single, a double, and an intentional walk with two outs. Daniel Robertson then singled to the left side of the infield to score Gale and extend the Durham lead to five, 5-0.

Syracuse (57-57) had some opportunities to score but never capitalized on those chances. The Mets went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left ten runners on base during the game.

The Mets and Bulls continue their three-game series with the second game of the series on Wednesday night. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
