Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, official ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, announced today that G David McKee and F Matt Caruana have been reassigned by the Iowa Chops to Bakersfield. The Chops are the American Hockey League affiliate of the Ducks.

McKee, 24, split the 2007-08 season between Augusta and Phoenix in the ECHL and Iowa in the AHL. He went 6-11-4 with a 3.92 GAA and a .894 save percentage in the ECHL last season. The 6-foot-1-inch, 187-pound native of Irving, Texas was on the Chops Opening Night roster but did not see action last night. He appeared in one preseason game with Iowa this season, a 4-1 loss to Quad City on Oct. 4 in which he made 20 saves.

The Condors acquired the ECHL rights to McKee from the Charlotte Checkers on Sept. 16.

Caruana, 23, made his professional debut last season with the Portland Pirates (AHL) after completing his four-year collegiate career at Niagara University (NCAA). With the Pirates, Caruana registered one assist in five regular season games. He also suited up for 13 playoff games.

While at Niagara from 2004-08, the 6-foot, 185-pound native of Orono, Ontario, played 146 games, recording 129 points (51g-78a) and 108 PIM. He set career highs with 17 goals and 39 points in his senior season last year, and notched 36 and 38 points in his sophomore and junior seasons, respectively. He finished in the top five in points on the team and in the College Hockey America conference each of his last three seasons. Caruana ranks 5th in career assists, 6th in career points and 9th in career goals on Niagara's all-time scoring lists.
