Bombers Close Out Preseason With 7-1 Win Over Cincinnati

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Bombers defeated the reigning ECHL champion Cincinnati Cyclones 7-1 this afternoon at the Kettering Recreation Complex in their final preseason matchup.

The Bombers jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a Matt Rogers goal, assisted by Mike Looby. Dayton grew their lead in the first when Ryan Smyth netted the puck past Cyclones netminder Loic Lacasse from Jarret Lukin.

In the second period the Bombers continued to control the game with goals from Dan Riedel and Greg Labenski, bringing the score to 4-0. The Cyclones would answer in the second frame with their lone goal of the game, when Barret Ehgoetz snuck one past Bombers goalie Mike Brown to make the score 4-1.

It was all Dayton in the third as Dan Riedel scored his second goal of the game, with helpers from Jamie Dowhayko and Smyth. Dowhayko made it 6-1 with assists from Rogers and Dan LaPointe; LaPointe sealed the game at 7-1 on a goal from Looby and Dowhayko.

The Bombers fired 41 shots at Lacasse, while the Cyclones managed just 26 shots on goal in the contest.

The Bombers and Cyclones will face off on Saturday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ervin J. Nutter Center for the Bombers' 18th Anniversary Opening Night Extravaganza. Tickets are on sale now at the Nutter Center box office or at any Ticketmaster outlet.
