Lynx End Preseason, Prepare for Season Opener

AUGUSTA, Ga.− Mike Berry scored twice and Alexander Parent added a goal and two assists as the Mississippi Sea Wolves downed the Lynx 4-1 in the preseason finale on Saturday night at James Brown Arena. Dallas Steward scored the lone goal for Augusta, his second in as many night.

Just 47 seconds in, Alexander Parent fired a shot past Lynx goaltender Joel Martin to put Mississippi ahead 1-0. Then, Mike Berry scored the first of his two goals on the evening at the 7:19 mark of period number one to give the Sea Wolves a 2-0 lead after twenty minutes of play.

Berry made it two tallies on the night as he scored at 11:33 of the second period to make it 3-0. Steward lit the lamp with help from Art Femenella 48 seconds in as he beat Mississippi goaltender Ryan Munce to cut the Sea Wolves lead to 3-1. Mathieu Melanson added some insurance and Mississippi went on for the victory.

The Lynx out shot Mississippi 26 to 18. Each team netted a power play goal. Joel Martin made 9 saves in the loss while AJ Bucchino stopped 5 of 6 shots in the third period. The Lynx will now prepare for the 2008-2009 season opener which takes place on Friday night at James Brown Arena against Mississippi.

The Augusta Lynx begin their 11th season of play when they host the Mississippi Sea Wolves on Friday, Oct. 17th at 7:30 p.m. Fans coming for opening night are eligible to enter a raffle for a free Breitling watch and shopping spree courtesy of Windsor Jewelers and are eligible for a free gift from Carhartt, courtesy of Boots, Bridles and Britches. Any fan bringing a canned good to the game for Golden Harvest Food Bank's Spooky to be Hungry promotion is also eligible for a buy-one-get-one-free voucher to any future regular-season game.
