Wranglers Beat Condors 5-2 In A Preseason Game

Bakersfield, CA - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (2-0-0) defeated the Bakersfield Condors (0-1-2) 5-2 in a preseason game at Rabobank Arena on Saturday night. A four-goal outburst for the first 8:03 of the second period powered Las Vegas to the victory. Forwards Tim Spencer, Mick Lawrence, Adam Miller, Chris Neiszner and Matt McKnight each scored in the Las Vegas lead. Goalie Bryan Bridges made 27 saves in his debut for the preseason win. Las Vegas will conclude the preseason on Sunday at 5:00 pm at Ontario.

Bakersfield scored the first goal of the night and the only goal in the first period. Condors forward Dave Bonk picked off an outlet pass at center and carried the puck into the Las Vegas zone. Bonk snapped a pass from the left wing to the high slot for center Andrew Ianiero. The long-tome Condor fired a one-timer past Bryan Bridges for the shorthanded goal at 10:28 and a 1-0 lead for Bakersfield after one period of play.

Las Vegas enjoyed a four-goal outburst in the second period, starting with a shorthanded goal by Chris Neiszner just 1:48 into the period. Just two minutes later, winger Matt McKnight poked in a loose puck into the Bakersfield net for the 2-1 Wranglers lead at 3:48. Newcomer Justin Taylor stole the puck in the Condors zone and set up the team's third goal of the night. Taylor spotted Adam Miller in the slot for a quick score at 6:46 and Las Vegas' lead jumped to 3-1. The Wranglers scored their fourth unanswered goal in eight minutes as Tim Spencer put in a rebound at 8:03 for the 4-1 lead.

In the third period, right wing Mick Lawrence scored off a rebound just 2:20 into the period for the 5-1 Las Vegas lead. Condors forward Mark Derlago scored at 6:04, trimming the Wranglers lead to 5-2.

Prior to the game, the Wranglers signed goalie Bryan Bridges to a tryout agreement. Bridges was cut by Fresno earlier in the week. The 23-year old netminder spent last season in Colorado of the Central Hockey League. Bridges went 8-5-2 with a 3.47 goals against average and a .893 save percentage. Bridges played in Victoria as a rookie in 2006-07. During his time with the Salmon Kings, Bridges went 14-16-1 with a 3.32 goals against average.

The Wranglers have announced a total of 26 players in training camp for the 2008-09 Preseason. Defensemen Brandon Straub, Jim Jorgensen, Michael Beynon, Gerard Miller, Bret Tyler, Jason Dest, Mark Lutz and Mike Madill have all agreed to terms for 2008-09. Forwards Tim Spencer, Mick Lawrence, Matt McKnight, Luke Hunter, Tyler Mosienko, Mike Hamilton, Jordan Hack, Adam Miller, Chris Ferraro, Peter Ferraro and Brandon Kaleniecki have also signed. Forwards Jimmy Kilpatrick, Justin Taylor and Chris Neiszner are signed to tryout agreements. Left wing Shawn Limpright continues to rehab from off-season surgery. Two-time Central Hockey League Goalie of the Year John DeCaro has also agreed to terms for the upcoming season. Defenseman Brandon Straub and forward Matt Beaudoin remain in the American Hockey League.

Las Vegas will play one more preseason game in Ontario against the expansion Reign. The Wranglers will meet the Reign at 5:00 pm at the Center Ice Arena in Ontario, CA on Sunday, October 12th.

2008-09 season seat packages are on sale now at (702) 471-PUCK. The Wranglers play all 36 regular season home games at the Orleans Arena, located at the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue.
