Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors today acquired left wing Mathieu Brunelle from the Trenton Titans in exchange for forward Jason Norrie.

Brunelle, 22, was a late- season addition to the Condors roster last season as the team made its push to the playoffs. The Warwick, Quebec native scored 13 goals and 4 assists in 18 regular season appearances with Bakersfield last year, and added a goal and an assist in the Condors' five Kelly Cup Playoff games. This season, Brunelle has 10 goals and 13 assists through 37 games with Trenton, in addition to 2 assists in 2 games with the Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League.

The 5-foot-11, 180 pound left winger spent three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and reached the Memorial Cup in back to back seasons (2002 with Victoriaville, 2003 with Hull). Brunelle is one of only 24 players in ECHL history to record five goals in one game, achieving the feat on January 31, 2004 against the Augusta Lynx.

Norrie, 28, joined the Condors after a stay with the London Racers of the Elite League in England. Through 17 appearances with Bakersfield, Norrie scored 9 points with 5 goals, four of which came on the power play.

"We have too many players who play the same way and needed to inject some more offense into our game," said Condors Head Coach Marty Raymond. "Mathieu's been here before, and I think that will make a big difference."

Bakersfield hosts San Diego on Friday, February 3rd, as the ZOOperstars visit Condorstown, sponsored by KGET-TV 17 and Rio Bravo Country Club. On Saturday, February 4th, 93.1 Pirate Radio and Carl's Jr. present Playing Card Giveaway & Poker Night as the Condors take on the Las Vegas Wranglers. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a deck of Condors Playing Cards.
