McBain named ECHL's HOK Sport Plus Performer of the Month

Las Vegas, NV- Las Vegas defenseman Mike McBain was named the HOK Sport ECHL Plus Performer of the Month today after leading the league with a plus-minus rating of +12 in January.

In his ninth professional season, the 29-year-old was even or plus in all but one of his 12 games in January and scored eight points (0g-8a) to help Las Vegas go 9-2-1 and move within three points of first place in the West Division with a 32-7-4 record.

Selected in the second round (30th overall) in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning, McBain has 14 points (1g-13a) and 43 penalty minutes and was even or plus in 32 of his first 43 games this season.

A member of the Wranglers since their inaugural season in 2003-04, McBain has 54 points (8g-46a) and 203 penalty minutes in 175 regular season games and two assists and eight penalty minutes in five Kelly Cup Playoff games for Las Vegas.

He played in the NHL with Tampa Bay in 1997-98 and 1998-99 registering seven assists and 22 penalty minutes in 64 games with the Lightning.
