Eberly called up to Norfolk, Emmett activated off IR

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that defenseman Danny Eberly has been called up to the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League. In a separate transaction, defenseman Rick Emmett has been activated off the 30-day injured reserve.

Eberly makes his first trip this season to the American Hockey League and the second trip in his career to the AHL. Eberly posted a goal in his only appearance in the AHL during the 2003-04 season with the Worcester Ice Cats. The Canton, Massachusetts, native currently ranks second in scoring among Gladiators defensemen with 21 points off of 7 goals and 21 assists. Eberly has also recorded a plus 15, plus-minus ranking. Eberly was an 8th round selection of the New York Rangers in the 2000 NHL draft. He played four seasons at R.P.I. where compiled 51 points in 116 collegiate games.

Emmett returns to the Gladiators having not appeared in a game yet this season. He appeared in 60 games last season with the Gladiators posting 8 goals and 24 assists for 32 points. Emmett will be available for the Gladiators for tonight's 7:05 p.m. start in Charlotte against the Checkers.

The Gwinnett Gladiators continue the 2005-06 ECHL season on the road as they travel to Charlotte to take on the Checkers at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday, February 2nd.
