Weiman Recalled To Lowell

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls announced Thursday that goaltender Tyler Weiman has been recalled to the American Hockey League's Lowell Lock Monsters. The Colorado Avalanche prospect has now been called-up to Lowell twice this season.

Weiman made his AHL debut Dec. 28, stopping 26 shots in Lowell's 4-2 win against Providence. It was his only regular season appearance with the Lock Monsters.

The 5-foot-11-inch, 180-pounder from Lloydminster, Alberta has appeared in 24 games for the Gulls this season, posting a 9-10-3 record with a 3.02 goals-against average and .903 save percentage. After getting off to a 1-6-1 start, Weiman is 8-4-2 since with a 2.63 GAA and .917 save percentage.

The Avalanche, San Diego's NHL affiliate, originally assigned Weiman to the Gulls in early October. He spent portions of training camp with both Colorado and Lowell.

The 21-year-old goaltender spent last season (his rookie year) with the Central Hockey League's Colorado Eagles, posting a 33-6-5 record with a 1.80 goals-against average and .938 save percentage. He led the CHL in wins, GAA, save percentage and shutouts (eight), while being named the league's Outstanding Goaltender and Rookie of the Year.
