Mancari, Wolves Top Admirals in Overtime

MILWAUKEE --- The Chicago Wolves began this season's Amtrak Rivalry series with an overtime win Saturday night, topping the Milwaukee Admirals 3-2 at the Bradley Center.
Right wing Mark Mancari scored twice for Chicago, including the game-winning goal in overtime, to propel the Wolves (3-3-0-0) over the Admirals (2-0-2-0). Chicago goaltender Jake Allen (3-1-0) stopped 30 shots in the contest to earn the win.
Just 1:30 into extra time, Mancari ended the game after a spot-on pass from center Corey Locke. Locke had the puck going into the offensive zone and flipped a saucer pass over an Admirals defender's stick to Mancari, who roofed it over Milwaukee netminder Magnus Hellberg's shoulder.
Mancari opened scoring less than seven minutes into the game. An aggressive forecheck from linemate Alexandre Bolduc freed up the puck for Locke, who sent an anticipatory pass to open ice for Mancari. Mancari then picked up the puck and blasted a shot past Hellberg (1-2-0).
Right wing Tyler Shattock notched his second goal in as many games 8:14 into the second period to pad Chicago's lead. As the Wolves crossed into the offensive zone, center Christian Hanson sent a cross-ice pass to Sebastian Wannstrom. Wannstrom then fed a pass to Shattock who then beat Hellberg from the faceoff dot. Hellberg made 19 saves in the loss.
The Admirals got on the board with a shorthanded goal from Mathieu Tousignant at 12:56 of the second period. Allen left his crease to play Milwaukee's clearing attempt, sending a soft pass towards a Wolves defenseman. Instead of reaching the Wolves skater, the puck was intercepted by Tousignant who moved in alone, deked, and sent the puck over a sprawling Allen.
Milwaukee tied the score on a power play when Simon Moser, standing near the crease, received an angled pass from the right wall that he tipped through Allen's five-hole.
The Wolves return to action on the road at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 as they take on the Iowa Wild in Des Moines.
