Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Crunch defeated I-81 rivals the Binghamton Senators by the score of 4-1 tonight at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

The Crunch scored three times in the third period to defeat the Senators for the first time this season. Artem Sergeev, Vlad Namestnikov and Cedric Paquett scored while goaltender Riku Helenius made 24 of 25 saves for the win.

The Crunch opened the scoring with a power-play goal at the 9:48 mark of the first period. Artem Sergeev gave the Crunch a 1-0 lead with assists going to Tanner Richard and Joey Mormina.

The Senators evened the score on the power-play with a goal from Shane Prince, assisted by Chris Wideman and Andre Peterson, at the 17:23 mark of the second period.

Vladislav Namestnikov gave the Crunch a 2-1 lead at the 2:34 mark of the third period. Nikita Kucherov extended the Crunch lead by converting a JT Brown pass at the 9:15 mark of the final frame. Cedric Paquette added to the Crunch lead with a wrist shot at the 15:38 mark of the third period.

The Crunch host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Oct. 26 for Pink in the Rink Night presented by Upstate Medical Hospital.
