
Hogs Set to Take on Calder Cup Champs in Home Opener

Rockford, Ill.- After a five-game road stint to start the season, the Rockford IceHogs return home to the BMO Harris Bank Center for their 2013-14 home opener against the Grand Rapids Griffins at 7 p.m. This Midwest division clash pits the 3-2-0-0 IceHogs against the 2-1-1-0 defending Calder Cup champion Griffins.
A limited number of tickets remain for tonight's game. To purchase tickets, call (815) 968-5222, online through IceHogs.com or in person at the BMO Harris Bank Center Box Office or at any Ticketmaster outlet. The first 5,000 fans to the BMO will receive an IceHogs calendar courtesy of Stateline Staffing Services.
You can tune into tonight's game against the Griffins live at 6:30 p.m. beginning with IceHogs Warm Up on Antenna TV 23.2, Comcast channel 436, Charter 970 or online at IceHogs.com through AHL Live. Tune in to catch up with the season so far and get a preview of the matchup against Grand Rapids.
In their fifth and final road game to start to the season, the IceHogs travelled to the Allstate Arena to take on the Chicago Wolves on Friday. After going up 3-0 in the first period, Chicago tallied the next three goals, two in the second and one in the third to tie the game at 3-3 with just 2:36 left to play. Defenseman Klas Dahlbeck broke the tie and delivered the game winning goal for the Hogs while surpassing his season total for goals from the 2012-13 with two so far this season.
Left Wing Jeremy Morin continued his streak of games recording a shot yesterday, adding 10 to his team leading 23 and putting him in third in the AHL. The shot streak now sits at 133 straight games. Defenseman Adam Clendening added to his team lead in points last night with two assists to increase his total to six (2g-4a) in five games.
Grand Rapids comes into this game against the Hogs a night after dropping a 3-2 game against the Milwaukee Admirals. Right Wing Gustav Nyquist is leading the Griffins in points with seven (3g-4a) in four games for the defending Calder Cup champs.
Next Home Game: Saturday, Oct. 26 vs. Charlotte. Game time is 3 p.m. The first 5,000 fans to the BMO will receive a 2013-14 IceHogs magnet schedule sponsored by T6. Fans are also invited to come dressed for Halloween as the IceHogs will be hosting a Trick-or-Treat version of "Skate With the Hogs" following the game. Fans are encouraged to take advantage of a Vienna Beef Family Value Day. Family's can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs, four soft drinks for $59. Additional tickets can be purchased for $15.
