Oklahoma City Barons News Release
Paul Byron scored with 39 seconds remaining in regulation as the Abbotsford Heat defeated the Oklahoma City Barons 2-1 in a shootout Saturday evening at the Cox Convention Center. Relo Berra earned first star honors, turning away 29 of the 30 shots he faced on the evening. The loss snapped Oklahoma City's three-game win streak.
Joel Broda scored with one second remaining in the second period to give the Barons (3-3-0-1) a 1-0 lead after 40 minutes of play. Richard Bachman earned the game's second star honors as he turned away 28 of the 29 shots faced.
Andrew Miller had a penalty shot at 7:17 of the second but was unable to convert. Miller's penalty shot was the seventh in franchise history and first since Feb. 15, 2013.
Broda, Linus Omark and Miller were all stopped by Berra in the shootout before Derek Nesbitt scored. Berra turned away Larsen to secure the 2-1 win for the Heat. Chad Billins and Markus Granlund had the shootout goals for Abbotsford.
The Barons hit the road for a Wednesday evening contest at Texas. Puck drop from Cedar Park Center is set for 7:30 p.m. CT. Oklahoma City travels to San Antonio next weekend for a pair of games against the Rampage. All the games can be heard locally on KXY 96.1 FM or online at OKCBarons.com.
