BRAMPTON, ON - The Brampton Beast, ECHL affiliate of the St. John's IceCaps and Montreal Canadiens, announce today that defenseman Mathew Maione, as per his request, has been traded to the Wheeling Nailers in exchange for future considerations.

Maione left his mark on the Beast and was a leader in both the dressing room and in the community and Beast President and General Manager Cary Kaplan agrees that Maione was an important member of the club over the last two seasons.

"Mathew Maione was a big part of the Brampton Beast both on and off the ice, from last season through the beginning of this season," Kaplan said.

"Regrettably, Mathew asked the Beast to be traded specifically to the Wheeling Nailers. We felt it important to honour Mathew's wishes and as a result, we wish him the best of luck in Wheeling."

Maione, 25, recorded four goals and six assists in 17 games played for the Beast this season. Last year, Maione had a breakout season with the Beast and scored 14 goals and added 29 assists in 69 games played with the club. His strong play earned him Beast Rookie of the Year and Fan Favourite honours in 2014-15.

The Beast are back in action at the Powerade Centre on Thursday night at 7:15 PM to face the visiting Adirondack Thunder. Single game tickets are now available, starting at $16.25. Trial Packs for the 2015-16 season are also available starting at $39.99 that include three game tickets.
