Jackals Receive Matt Garbowsky and Justin Kea from Rochester

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and the AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today that forward Matt Garbowsky has been assigned to Elmira by Rochester and forward Justin Kea has been sent to Elmira by Buffalo from Rochester.
Garbowsky, 25, appeared in eight games with Rochester, recording one assist, upon his recall from Elmira on October 25th. He has also recorded three points (one goal, two assists) in four games with the Jackals this season. The St. George, Ontario native added one assist in eight games with the Americans at the conclusion of the 2014-15 season following the completion of his collegiate career at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Garbowsky finished his prolific NCAA career at R.I.T with 114 points (48 goals, 66 assists) in 128 games for the Tigers. He was named as a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award as a senior with 54 points (26 goals, 28 assists), setting a school record and finishing among the top five in the nation in goals, points and plus/minus. Garbowsky was also named as the 2015 Atlantic Hockey Conference Player of the Year and Defensive Forward of the Year in addition to being voted as an unanimous Atlantic Hockey First Team selection and a 2015 CCM Hockey Second Team All-American.
Kea, 21, joins the Jackals for the first time this season. The Woodville, Ontario native started the year with Rochester and appeared in six contests, logging three fighting majors. Last season, Kea split the year between Elmira and Rochester, combining for 14 points (seven goals, seven assists) and 121 penalty minutes in 61 games with the Jackals and Americans. The 6-foot-4 220-pound forward spent the previous four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Saginaw Spirit, recording 117 points (51 goals, 66 assists) and 324 penalty minutes in 253 OHL games. Kea was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the third round (#73 overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
