Sacramento River Cats News Release
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento River Cats (67-60) could not get it going offensively Wednesday night, falling 9-0 to the Albuquerque Isotopes (54-73) in just their fifth shutout loss of the season. However, with the Reno Aces 18-4 loss to the Las Vegas Aviators, the River Cats' magic number to clinch the Pacific Northern division title is now only five.
Right fielder Jaylin Davis continued to produce for the River Cats, coming away with two of the club's six hits on the night. Sacramento's best chance to score came in the fourth when Christian Adames reached third on a double and error to lead off the inning, but the bottom of the order could not knock him in. The River Cats finished the game 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left 10 runners on base.
Right-handers Kyle Barraclough and Melvin Adon each tossed a scoreless inning of relief, a welcome sight for two pitchers who had struggled early on in their River Cats tenure.
The River Cats will head to El Paso for four games as they close out their regular season road schedule. The River Cats will send lefty Conner Menez (2-0, 4.65) to the mound, while El Paso will roll with righty Emmanuel Ramirez (2-2, 11.57). First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. (PT). Listen to all of the action live online at rivercats.com, on the MiLB First Pitch app, and on Money 105.5 FM.
Additional Notes
Steven Okert made his 196 appearance for the River Cats, further extending his franchise record for most appearance as a River Cat pitcher.
Sacramento surrendered 18 hits which marks the second highest number of hits the clubs given up this season. Three times this season Sacramento has given up 20 hits in a ballgame.
