Augusta Lynx News Release

Dayton, OH - A patient Augusta Lynx team won its fifth straight away from home to wrap up a six game road swing by a 2-1 count over the Dayton Bombers Tuesday night.

A scoreless first period produced few scoring chances for either team as Dayton employed its trapping style of play to clog the neutral zone and keep the Lynx to just four shots through 20 minutes.

Finally Augusta broke through on a power play at 4:41 of the second stanza, with Brian Passmore firing home a Jamie Johnson feed to beat Bombers' netminder Dan LaCosta for a 1-0 lead. Garrett Bembridge picked up his first of two assists on the night on the goal as well.

After Dayton replied with a breakaway goal in the second period to even the score at 1-1 from Yannick Tifu, the game pressed into the final half of the third period still deadlocked.

Once again the line of Bembridge, Passmore, and Johnson came through for the Lynx. Taking a Bembridge feed in front of the Dayton net, Johnson kicked the puck up to his stick blade from his skates and tipped a shot past the outstretched right pad of LaCosta to give Augusta the margin of victory at 14:29 of the final frame.

The Lynx then turned the tables on Dayton, playing stifling defense that prevented the Bombers from breaking out of its defensive zone on several occasions. LaCosta was finally able to make it to the bench for a sixth attacker with just 20 seconds remaining, but it went for naught as the Lynx held on for the victory.

Nathan Marsters stopped 26 shots to earn the win for the Lynx while LaCosta made 24 saves for the Bombers.

The Lynx are back in action Thursday against the Florida Everblades, Friday versus the Alaska Aces, and Saturday for a rematch with the Everblades. All games start at 7:35 pm, with tickets on sale via the Lynx office at (706) 724-4ICE, at all TicketMaster locations, and on line at www.TicketMaster.com.
