Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and the Manitoba Moose, are pleased to announce that 21-year-old Marc-Andre Bernier is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for January 22-28, 2007.

In the Salmon Kings undefeated four-game road trip, the 6-foot-3, 218-pound winger tallied five goals and two assists for seven points. Last Friday in Bakersfield, Bernier scored the game-winner on the powerplay, and followed up that performance on Saturday afternoon posting a hat trick and a total of four points in Victoria's 6-5 overtime victory.

He rounded out the road trip with another multi-point game (1 goal, 1 assist) in the 6-3 win over Long Beach on Sunday. He finished the series with a +5 rating, and 17 shots on net.

The native of Laval, PQ was selected in the second round (60th overall) by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2003 National Hockey League Entry Draft, and was assigned to the Salmon Kings through the Manitoba Moose on January 3, 2007. Before joining Victoria, he recorded 23 games with Manitoba and collected two points and 16 penalty minutes. Last season, he split time between the Moose and the ECHL's Columbia Inferno. In 44 games with the Inferno, Bernier earned 23 points (6 goals, 17 assists).

With Bernier on a three-game goal streak (5 goals), the Salmon Kings will face the Idaho Steelheads for a two-game set this Friday and Saturday at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

On behalf of Bernier, a case of pucks will be donated to a Victoria area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier for the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, In Glas Co has donated more than 15,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
