Augusta Lynx News Release
The Augusta Lynx got one in the win column on Friday night in Gwinnett as they handed the Gladiators a 4-3 shootout loss at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in front of a Gladiator-record 8,586 fans.
As a tenuous first period wore towards a close for both clubs, Augusta took advantage of a giveaway in the Gwinnett end to grab a 1-0 lead on Todd Bennett's first of the season from Terry Marchant and Jamie Johnson at 18:22. The Lynx kept the pressure on entering the second period with a pair of goals just :39 seconds apart, starting with a Josh St. Louis unassisted marker at 4:13, followed by Ken Magowan's second goal of the year from Louis Goulet and Matt Dzieduszycki at 4:52 to give Augusta a 3-0 advantage.
The Gladiators found some life at 10:50 of the second period on a shot that fluttered and bounced in from the blue line, eluding Jason Saal to make it 3-1. Kris Goodjohn received credit for the goal to finish out the second period scoring tally.
In the third period, the Gwinnett power play came to life to even the game. Rick Emmett scored quickly at 1:17 to draw the Gladiators within a goal, followed by Jeff Campbell's marker at 13:55 to tie the game. Regulation would finish in a draw, as would the four-on-four overtime to force a shootout.
Augusta appeared to score to open the shootout, but the play was blown dead before the goal crossed the line and Gwinnett came back to score for a 1-0 lead. From there, however, the Lynx would convert on two of their next three chances while Saal stopped the remaining four Gwinnett shooters to give Augusta their first victory of the year. Saal finished with 36 stops on the evening for the win.

Lynx Pick Up King, Waive Scott
The Augusta Lynx have picked up rookie forward Colt King off waivers from the Reading Royals. Standing 6-2 and 220 lbs., King established a reputation in the Ontario Hockey League as a tough, gritty player with a scoring touch. The 21-year-old forward is expected to be with the team this weekend when they head to Texas and Pensacola.
Meanwhile, the club waived forward Mark Scott to make room for King. Scott appeared in three games for Augusta, registering no points or PIMs to go with a -1 rating and 7 PIMs.
