Friday, October 29

Wheeling 4 @ Dayton 5

The Nailers gave up the first goal of the game for the third straight time when Dayton scored at 15:07 of the first period. Ed McGrane scored his second goal of the season at 10:50 of the second period to tie the game 1-1. A Bombers shorthanded goal gave Dayton a 2-1 lead. The Nailers tied the game again on a Kenny Corupe goal at 15:41 of the second period. Dayton scored twice in the first nine minutes of the third period to take a 4-2 lead. Goals by McGrane and Kosick less than a minute apart tied the game for the Nailers late in the third period. Dayton broke the tie at 18:22 for the 5-4 win.

Saturday, October 30

Toledo 1 @ Wheeling 2 (SO)

In their first home game of the season, the Nailers held their first lead of the season when Brendon Hodge scored at 15:39 of the second period. T.J. Reynolds and Armands Berzins assisted on the goal. The game remained 1-0 until 19:34 of the third period when Toledo tied the game. Neither team scored in the overtime period and it took nine rounds of the shootout for the Nailers to record their first win of the season.

Sunday, October 31

Atlantic City 1 @ Wheeling 2 (SO)

The Nailers second home game of the season was almost identical to their first. Wheeling took a 1-0 lead at 5:49 of the second period on a James Laux power play goal. Atlantic City tied the game 1-1 with a goal in the third period that deflected of a Nailers defenseman into the Nailers goal. The Nailers would win their second consecutive home game in a shootout by a 2-1 score.

PREVIEW OF UPCOMING NAILERS GAMES November 1-November 7

Friday, November 5 __ Wheeling @ Dayton 7:00p.m.

The Nailers travel to Dayton for their second road game against the Bombers. Dayton won the first meeting 5-4 in regulation. The Nailers are 0-3-0 on the road, each loss by one goal.

Saturday, November 6 Reading @ Wheeling 7:30p.m.

The Nailers host the Reading Royals for the first time this season. There will be a memorabilia show at WesBanco Arena and a Royal Smash before the game. Fans will be able to take a swing at a car with a sledge hammer outside WesBanco Arena.

Sunday, November 7 _ Reading @ Wheeling 5:05p.m.

The Reading Royals will be at WesBanco Arena for the second consecutive night. It will be Guns N' Hoses night as the Nailers honor the Police and Fire Departments. It is also a 2004 Flood Workers Appreciation Night as everyone who played a part in helping residents of the Ohio Valley during the floods in September will be recognized.

Nailers Player of the Week:

The Nailers Player of the Week is Ed McGrane. McGrane had two goals in a 5-4 loss on Friday and an assist in a 2-1 shootout win on Sunday. McGrane also scored a shootout goal in Saturday's 2-1 win. He played at a +2 for the week.

Nailers Goaltender of the Week:

The Nailers Goaltender of the Week is Dany Sabourin. Sabourin was 2-0-0 last week, winning back to back games in a shootout. He finished the week making 65 saves on 67 shots in regulation and overtime. He also made 13 saves on 14 shots in the two shootouts.
