Dayton, OH – The Dayton Bombers extended their winning streak to three games with a home-opening night victory over Wheeling, 5-4, on Friday, and a 2-1 shootout win in Peoria on Saturday.

Friday, October 29th – The 2004-2005 home-opener was a success for the new Dayton Bombers who posted a 5-4 victory over the rival Wheeling Nailers in front of 5,118 at the Nutter Center Friday night. Last season, Dayton went 0-9-1 against Wheeling. Forward TYLER KOLARIK opened the scoring with his first professional goal at 15:07 of the first period, giving Dayton a 1-0 lead. Kolarik is a rookie from Harvard University. Ed McGrane tied the game, 1-1 at 10:50 of the second period, before SHAWN LIMPRIGHT gave Dayton a 2-1 lead with a shorthanded goal at 12:37. Kenny Corupe beat Bombers goaltender ANDREW PENNER at 15:41 of the second period, and the teams were tied 2-2 after 40 minutes. Dayton opened their first two goal lead of the night with third period goals from MICHAEL TESSIER :48 seconds into the period, and BEN KNOPP at 8:59 to make it 4-2. Goals :56 seconds apart from Ed McGrane and Mark Kosick tied the game, 4-4, with 6:15 remaining in regulation. The game-winner was scored by SCOTT CAMERON, who beat Nailers goaltender Joe Exter with a high-rising shot over the glove hand with 1:38 left, and the Bombers beat the Nailers, 5-4.

Saturday, October 30th - The new Dayton Bombers posted a 2-1 shootout victory over the host Peoria Rivermen in front of 5,453 at the Peoria Civic Center Saturday night. The Bombers have now won three straight since dropping their first two games of the regular season. BEN KNOPP opened the scoring with his team-leading third goal of the season at 8:01 of the first period. Later in the first, Knopp was given a game misconduct for instigating a fight with Brian McCullough in front of the Rivermen bench. During the ensuing five minute powerplay, Scott Turner beat Bombers goaltender MIKE AYERS to tie the game, 1-1. Ayers was brilliant down the stretch and recorded a season-high 44 saves for his first professional victory. After a scoreless five minute overtime session, the teams exchanged two goals apiece in the shootout, before SCOTT CAMERON iced the game on Dayton's final attempt. The Bombers improved to 3-2-0 in the North Division, while Peoria falls 1-0-2.

This week, Dayton hosts Wheeling on Friday and Atlantic City on Sunday afternoon.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Forward SCOTT CAMERON scored the game-winning goal with under two minutes remaining as Dayton beat Wheeling 5-4 in the Bombers home-opener on Friday. Saturday, Cameron had another strong performance, and scored the deciding goal in a 2-1 shootout victory over Peoria at the Peoria Civic Center.

GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK – Rookie MIKE AYERS stopped 44 of 45 shots through overtime, then stopped 3 of 5 in the shootout as Dayton beat Peoria 2-1 at the Peoria Civic Center on Saturday.
