Clinton LumberKings News Release

Davenport, IA - The Clinton LumberKings were swept for the second time this year by the Quad Cities River Bandits with a 3-2 loss on Friday night at Modern Woodmen Park. The LumberKings (19-21, 58-52) will end the season without a win in Quad Cities (22-18, 62-48), going 0-6.

River Bandits starter Luis Garcia allowed the games first run in the top of the second inning and no more. Johnny Adams tripled into right after Chandler Taylor missed on a diving catch. Five pitches later Zach Scott lined a single up the middle to plate Adams for a brief 1-0 Clinton lead.

Garcia (4-2) earned the win for Quad Cities with five innings of work allowing just the one run on five hits while walking none and striking out three.

In the bottom of the third, Quad Cities answered the LumberKings run. Clinton starter Tyler Jackson set down the first two batters before running into trouble. Chandler Taylor singled and was followed by a five pitch walk to Colton Shaver. Jonathan Lacroix then lifted a 3-1 pitch to right center for a three-run home run to put the River Bandits on top for good.

The home run ended the night for Jackson (1-1) who was handed the loss in his first start of the season for the LumberKings. He worked 3.2 innings surrendering three hits while walking one and striking out one.

The LumberKings pulled to within one with game's final run in the seventh. Scott drew a two out walk and moved to second on a passed ball and Rainis Silva singled up the middle two pitches later to drive him home.

Brenden Feldmann worked the final two innings for Quad Cities and held the LumberKings scoreless to preserve the River Bandits win and his sixth save of the year.

The sweep marks just the second time in franchise history that the LumberKings will not have at least one win in Quad Cities in a season. The last time Clinton had gone winless for a season in Quad Cities was in 1967 when they went 0-5.

The LumberKings will return home to open a four-game series with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Saturday night.
