Capra Becomes First 2018 Blue Jays Draftee to Join Lugnuts

LANSING, Mich. - In conjunction with the Toronto Blue Jays, the Lansing Lugnuts (21-19, 64-46) have received shortstop Vinny Capra from the Short-Season A Vancouver Canadians, with catcher Reilly Johnson returning to the Canadians in a corresponding move.

Capra, 22, was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 20th round in 2018 from the University of Richmond, where he led the Spiders in hits (66), batting average (.327), runs (40), home runs (5), RBIs (40) and total bases (98). Capra ws batting .235 in 39 games with Vancouver, collecting 10 doubles, one triple, two homers and 18 RBIs.

The Nuts wrap up a three-game homestand with the South Bend Cubs tonight, playing a Family Faith Night with postgame LAFCU Fireworks at 7:05 p.m.
