Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

Davenport, IA - Jonathan Lacroix's three-run home run in the fourth inning was the difference as the Quad Cities River Bandits completed a sweep of the Clinton LumberKings with a 3-2 win on Friday night at Modern Woodmen Park. The sweep was the first of the second half for the River Bandits who finished a perfect 6-0 at home against Clinton during the regular season.

Clinton scored the game's first run to take their first lead of the series. With two outs in the second inning, Johnny Adams tripled past the diving Chandler Taylor in right field. Zach Scott followed with a sharp single into center to score him and put the LumberKings on top 1-0.

The River Bandits put together a two-out rally of their own in the fourth inning. Chandler Taylor started the attack by beating out an infield single to the right side. Colton Shaver joined him on base with a two-out walk, setting the stage for Lacroix. The outfielder worked the count in his favor 3-1 and then blasted a fastball over the wall in right center for his third home run of the campaign.

The LumberKings put an unearned run on the board in the seventh against Parker Mushinski to pull within one. Scott drew a free pass with two outs and then raced into scoring position on a passed ball charged to Michael Papierski. Rainis Silva capitalized on the miscue by grounding a base hit through the middle to close the gap to 3-2. Clinton put a man on base in each of the final two frames, but never advanced a runner into scoring position as the Bandits held on for the win.

Luis Garcia, the Bandits starter, earned the win by throwing 5.0 innings and allowing one run on five hits. Mushinski worked 2.0 innings and allowed just the unearned run on a walk and a hit. By tossing the final 2.0 innings, Brendan Feldmann earned his sixth save of the season.

Clinton outhit the Bandits 8-6 in the contest. Adams of Clinton and Lacroix were the only two players in the game with multiple hits. Lacroix's three runs batted in matched his season-high.

The River Bandits (22-18, 62-48) hit the road to open a new series with the Peoria Chiefs (25-14, 64-45) on Saturday night at Dozer Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30p.m. The Bandits will open with RHP Cesar Rosado (4-3, 4.63) on the mound against Peoria RHP Angel Rondon (3-0, 3.08).
