Lansing Lugnuts News Release

LANSING- The Lansing Lugnuts will be spending Independence Day this Wednesday by celebrating America's 231st birthday in grand style at Oldsmobile Park. The Lugnuts will host the South Bend SilverHawks, with first pitch moved to 7:20 p.m. due to several special pre-game activities designed to honor America.

The Dixieland Raggets, a five-piece dixieland band, will perform in the Oldsmobile Park plaza beginning at 6:00 p.m. as fans enter the stadium.

Once fans enter the ballpark, they will be treated to a musical tribute to the armed forces by the Men Of Orpheus. The group will also have the honor of singing the national anthem prior to first pitch. The Men of Orpheus have been delighting crowds in the greater Lansing area since 1926, when the group first formed as a glee club sponsored by REO Motor Company.

The Lugnuts are also planning several Fourth of July themed give-aways before and during the game, along with a very unique event for Lugnut fans preceeding first pitch.

The evening will conclude with a spectacular Fourth of July LAFCU fireworks show immediately following the game, and fans will be allowed to stay in Oldsmobile Park in order to see the City of Lansing's Fourth of July fireworks display as well.

Tickets range from $7 to $9 and are available by calling (517) 485-4500 or by going on-line to www.lansinglugnuts.com. Tickets can also be obtained by visiting the Oldsmobile Park box office between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
