The Swing of the Quad Cities scored four runs in each the second and fourth innings on Friday night, as three pitchers combined for a four-hit shutout in an 8-0 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at John O'Donnell Stadium.

Quad Cities (4-4, 42-35) tossed their ninth shutout of the year, one shy of Burlington's league-high total of 10, in their first home game since the All-Star break. Wisconsin (4-5, 26-51) fell behind early and never recovered, allowing all nine members of the Swing lineup to reach base, eight of which collected hits and seven of which scored runs.

The Swing improved to 9-4 against Wisconsin this season, guaranteeing themselves a win in the season series against their divisional rivals from Grand Chute.

After collecting three hits in the first inning but making the final out at home plate, the Swing were able to break through in the second. Consecutive walks to Tim Dorn and Jaime Landin opened the frame, and Donovan Solano put Quad Cities on the board with an RBI-single up the middle. One batter later Christian Lopez cleaned up the mess, blasting a three-run homer to the opposite field for a 4-0 lead.

The Swing went back to work in the fourth, sending nine men to the plate in another four-run inning. With men at the corners and one away Christian Reyes brought home a run with a sacrifice fly, and moments later the third walk of the inning put men on first and second. Dorn followed by drilling a low liner to center, and when the ball snuck past the center fielder it turned into a two-run triple. Landin capped the rally with a base hit to left, plating Dorn to push the advantage to 8-0.

Elvis Hernandez (5-5) sparkled in the win, tossing five shutout innings while allowing just three hits. The 22-year-old from the Dominican Republic struck out two and walked one, retiring the last eight batters that he faced before handing the ball over to the bullpen.

Kyle Sadlowski and Kyle Mura did the rest, throwing two innings each to complete the four-hit shutout.

Ricky Orta (2-2) was saddled with the loss, allowing six runs on seven hits over 3.1 frames.
