West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
COMSTOCK PARK, MI - Kenny Rogers will be back in a Whitecaps uniform when the 'Caps host game two of the Midwest League Playoffs. Rogers will be a little smaller though because he'll actually be a bobblehead. The first 1,000 fans through the gates at the 'Caps playoff game on Thursday, September 6 will receive a free Rogers bobblehead courtesy of Steak 'N Shake.
"The Kenny Rogers bobblehead is just the start of what we have planned for the 2007 playoff run," said Whitecaps Marketing Manager Mickey Graham. "We're going to offer fans some great entertainment and also exciting playoff baseball."
The first game of the playoffs will feature a special postgame Farm Bureau Insurance fireworks show and the opportunity to play catch on the field before the game. September 6 is also an Altogas Thrifty Thursday with food specials including $2 - 22 ounce Pepsis, $2 - 20 ounce draft beers, two hot dogs for $2 and $2 soft pretzels.
Tickets for the playoffs go on sale Monday, July 16 at 10 a.m. The Whitecaps will start the best-of-three series on the road September 5 and return home for games two and three (if necessary) on Thursday, September 6. Tickets for Game A (September 6) and Game B (September 7, 8, or 9 - if needed) will be the only two put on sale July 16. Ticket prices remain the same for the playoffs and are - box seat $10; reserved seat $8.50; lawn $5.
If the Whitecaps sweep their opponent, Game B tickets will be good for the first home game of the second round. If Game B is not played because the Whitecaps are swept by their opponent, fans holding tickets for that game can contact the Whitecaps Ticket Office to have their money refunded. Tickets for the second and third round of the playoffs will go on sale as soon as the Whitecaps advance.
Steak 'N Shake is also offering fans the chance to get a free playoff ticket. With every purchase of the new double grilled chicken sandwich, the new double spicy chicken sandwich or the new double breaded chicken sandwich from Steak 'N Shake restaurants in Grand Rapids and Holland, fans will receive a voucher good for one reserved seat to any 2007 Whitecaps playoff game. The vouchers can also be used for the first or second home game of the Whitecaps 2008 season.
The Whitecaps will battle the second half Midwest League Eastern Division Champion in the playoffs. Both home games in round one are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 6 and at 6 p.m. for any future playoff games. Tickets for the playoffs can be purchased by calling the Whitecaps Box Office at 616-784-4131 or online at whitecapsbaseball.com.
