Lincoln Hands Explorers 10-2 Loss

Lincoln, NE-----The Lincoln Saltdogs broke open a 2-2 game when they scored eight runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Explorers at Haymarket Park Monday 10-2.

The Explorers had taken a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Luke Murton led off the inning with his second home run of the year in his fourth game with the X's. However, Lincoln tied the game in the bottom of the second and then the Saltdogs took a 2-1 lead with a run in the fifth. Sioux City tied the game in the top of the sixth inning, but the Saltdogs exploded in the bottom of the sixth sending 12 batters to the plate and scoring a season high eight runs in an inning against the Explorers.

Yusuke Inoguchi and Eliezer Mesa both had two hits for the Explorers, both extending their hitting streaks to six and seven games respectively.

Josh Rainwater pitched five and one third innings and took the loss as he falls to 1-6 on the season. Eddie McKierman making his first start for Lincoln picked up the win and he is now 5-1. Slayton Thomas pitched the final two innings for Lincoln to get his first save of the season.

The Explorers and Lincoln will meet again Tuesday starting at 7:05pm at Haymarket Park.
