Explorers Take Final Game Of Series Against Grand Prairie

Sioux City-----The Explorers found themselves trailing Grand Prairie 5-0 in the first inning, but never gave up and defeated the AirHogs 9-8 here Sunday to win the series two games to one.

After trailing 5-0, the Explorers scored three in the bottom of the first inning and tied the game with two more runs in the second.

The Explorers took the lead in the third inning when Brian Bistange singled home Leugim Barroso to give the X's a 6-5 lead. Both Bistange and Barroso had three hits in the contest as the Explorers banged out 16 hits in the victory.

Sioux City added three runs in the sixth inning, two of the runs scored on a Barroso single giving the Explorers shortstop three RBI's in the game.

The Explorers would need those runs as Grand Prairie scored a run in the eighth and two more in the ninth to cut the lead to one run. With runners at first and second and two outs in the ninth, Grand Prairie's Brandon Pinckney was called out on strikes to end the game and the Explorers won 9-8.

Jimmer Kennedy in relief picked up the win for the Explorers while Chris Bodishbaugh recorded his seventh save of the season.

Sioux City will now head to Lincoln to start a three-game series with the Saltdogs Monday at 7:05 at Haymarket Park. After the three-game series at Lincoln, the Explorers will return home Thursday to start a four-game series with Wichita at Lewis and Clark Park.
