Lightning Reassign Defenseman Luke Witkowski to Syracuse

TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning have reassigned defenseman Luke Witkowski to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League today, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced.

Witkowski, 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, has played in 10 games with the Lightning this season, averaging 14:44 in ice time with an even rating. He made his NHL debut with Tampa Bay on January 20 against the Vancouver Canucks. Witkowski played a season-high 18:52 in ice time February 15 at the San Jose Sharks.

A native of Holland, Michigan, Witkowski has appeared in 36 games with the Crunch this season, posting a goal and six points to go along with 75 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 213-pound defenseman has skated in 115 career AHL games, all with the Crunch over the past three seasons, recording three goals and 18 points. The 24-year-old native led all Syracuse skaters last season with 204 penalty minutes.
