
Canucks Acquire Former AHL MVP Cory Conacher in Exchange for Dustin Jeffrey

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the Canucks have acquired forward Cory Conacher from the New York Islanders in exchange for forward Dustin Jeffrey.
Conacher, 25, has played 15 games with the New York Islanders this season, recording three points (1-2-3) and 14 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 28 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, collecting 22 points (5-17-22) and 30 minutes. The Burlington, ON native has appeared in 141 career NHL games with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Ottawa Senators, Buffalo Sabres, and New York Islanders collecting 58 points (19-39-58) and 84 penalty minutes.
In his first professional season in 2011-12, Conacher won the Les Cunningham Award as the American Hockey League's most valuable player as well as the Dudley "Red" Garrett Memorial Award as the AHL's most outstanding rookie. He registered 39 goals and 41 assists to help lead the Norfolk Admirals to the 2012 Calder Cup Championships.
Overall, he has appeared in 146 career AHL games and has collected 60 goals and 76 assists for 136 points along with 204 penalty minutes between Rochester, Milwaukee, Norfolk, Syracuse and Bridgeport. The 5'8", 182-pound forward signed with Islanders as a free agent on July 1, 2014.
Jeffrey, 27, has played in 49 games with Utica this season, collecting 41 points (17-24-41) and 18 penalty minutes. He was signed as a free agent on July 2, 2014.
