Memphis Redbirds News Release
MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds controlled every aspect of the team's 8-0 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers at AutoZone Park on Saturday afternoon.
Starting pitcher Matthew Liberatore (2-2) set the tone for Memphis, allowing just two baserunners in seven innings pitched. The left-hander did not allow a run and struck out nine Storm Chasers in the team's longest start of the season.
The Memphis offense scored early and often. With a runner on in the bottom of the first inning, third baseman Kramer Robertson blasted his second homer of the season to make the score 2-0.
In the bottom of the second inning, center fielder Ben DeLuzio hit his second homer of the year on a solo shot to left center. Memphis would later add runs on RBI doubles from first baseman Brendan Donovan, designated hitter Juan Yepez and shortstop Evan Mendoza.
Memphis scored two runs in each inning the team scored, with runs in the first, second, fifth and sixth innings.
The Memphis Redbirds (9-8) will finish the six-game homestand against the Omaha Storm Chasers (8-9) on Sunday afternoon at 2:05 in downtown Memphis at AutoZone Park.
