April 23, 2022 - International League (IL)
Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
OF Kyle Isbel got things started with a lead-off single in the first and the Storm Chasers never looked back on their way to a 9-3 victory in Memphis on Friday night. Isbel was moved to 3B after 1B Nick Pratto followed with a double to CF and then scored the first run of the night on a passed-ball.
2B Clay Dungan lead off the second with a solo home run, his first HR of the season before the Chasers loaded the bases and Pratto drove in his first of three RBIs on the night with a SAC fly to left field. Pratto, with arguably his best outing of the season, finished 2-4, with a single, double, a walk, and 3 RBI.
The Storm Chasers again loaded the bases in the 3rd inning, this time getting there with 0 outs, and while facing a new pitcher Angel Rondon. The Chasers were able to get 2 runs across with and RBI walk from OF JaCoby Jones and an RBI single from SS Ivan Castillo before three consecutive strikeouts to end the inning.
The Storm Chasers clinched the victory for a four-run 6th inning that started with a no-doubt HR from DH Vinnie Pasquantino, his second HR in as many games. Back-to-back walks issued to OF Brewer Hicklen and Dungan and a HBP on Isbel set the stage for a 2-out 2 RBI single by Pratto. C MJ Melendez finished off the scoring with a RBI single.
LHP Marcelo Martinez had his longest outing of the season as a starter, going 4.0 innings and only allowing 1 run on 2 hits. The bullpen, currently leading all of Triple-A with a 2.18 ERA, came in and had another stellar outing. RHP Andres Nunez, W (2-1) appeared in the 5th inning and threw 2.0 scoreless innings before giving way to RHP Brad Peacock.
The Storm Chasers continue their series against the Redbirds on Saturday at Autozone Park when left-hander Austin Cox *(0-1, 3.68) faces left-hander *Matthew Liberatore (1-2, 6.28). First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. and coverage begins at 2:45 p.m. with the Sarpy County Tourism Pregame Show on 1180 The Zone.
