Lexington Legends News Release

The Lexington Legends moved into first place in the South Atlantic League Southern Division by sweeping two games over the Augusta GreenJackets Tuesday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The Legends took a 15-2 win in the completion of a game that had been suspended in the second inning due to rain Monday night, and then won the regularly scheduled game 8-4.

The Legends had moved in front in the second inning before the rain came Monday night. A two-run double by Daniel Adamson and a two-run homer by Tyler Burnett gave Lexington a 4-0 lead. The game resumed in the second inning Tuesday afternoon. Carlos Quevedo (3-0) took over the pitching duties in the top of the third and turned in seven strong innings to get the victory. He allowed six hits and two runs, both in the fifth inning, and walked no one while striking out five.

Delino DeShields Jr.'s solo home run was part of a three-run sixth for the Legends, and Adam Bailey's three-run shot capped off a four-run seventh as the Legends pulled away.

In the second game, a seven-inning contest, Augusta scored four runs in the top of the first inning, two coming home on a double by Devin Harris. But the Legends answered with five in the bottom of the first. Jhonny Medrano and Roberto Pena each hit two-run singles, and another run scored on a throwing error by shortstop Bobby Haney. All of the runs scored with two outs.

The Legends added two more runs in the second inning. DeShields tripled, Ben Orloff followed with an RBI double, and came around to score on two infield outs. Lexington scored its final run in the bottom of the third. Medrano and Burnett singled, and moved up to second and third on a wild pitch. Medrano scored on Bryce Lane's ground out.

Yordany Ramirez (1-0), who relieved Ruben Alaniz in the fourth inning, was awarded the victory. Augusta starter Seth Rosin (0-2) was the losing pitcher.

Lexington's Chris Wallace had an RBI in each game to increase his league-leading total to 26. The Legends, who begin an eight-game road trip Thursday night in Hagerstown, lead Asheville and Greenville by one full game in the South Atlantic League standings.

Attendance for suspended game (Monday) - 3,263 Attendance Tuesday - 2,196
