RiverDogs Shutout Shorebirds 11-0 in Finale

Salisbury, Md. - The Charleston RiverDogs' bats finally came to life in the series finale as they blanked the Delmarva Shorebirds 11-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. The Shorebirds 11-game winning streak came to an end. The Shorebirds finished the homestand with an 8-1 record.

The 11 runs are tied for the most runs surrendered by the Shorebirds this season.

The RiverDogs jumped on Shorebirds starter Tim Berry in the early innings. In the first, J.R. Murphy hit a double to deep center field to score Slade Heathcott, who was issued a walk. In the third, the RiverDogs tacked two more on the board when Mychal Givens threw wide of first on a slow roller.

The RiverDogs added three more runs in the fourth to increase the lead to 6-0. Kyle Roller and Jose Mojica each had RBIs in the inning.

Charleston hit two home runs in the seventh inning to increase the lead to 10-0. Rob Segedin hit a solo homer and Eduardo Sosa hit a two-run blast.

The Shorebirds never got into a rhythm against RiverDogs starter Shane Greene. In seven shutout innings, he allowed only three hits. Greene also fanned five batters and walked just one.

Cameron Roth, Jarret Martin and Aaron Swenson all appeared after Berry lasted four innings. He allowed eight hits and four earned runs.

The RiverDogs outhit the Shorebirds 16-4.

The Shorebirds return to action on Thursday night from McCormick Field in Asheville, North Carolina. RHP Luis Noel is the expected starter in game one against the Asheville Tourists.
