Five Run Seventh Hurts Braves

Rome, GA - The Hagerstown Suns defeated the Rome Braves 8-2 Tuesday morning before 3,420 fans at State Mutual Stadium. It was the fifth straight loss for Rome and eighth straight setback at the hands of the Suns.

Hagerstown jumped on the board with a run in the first inning on an RBI single by Bryce Harper. Rome tied the game in the second on an RBI groundout by Christian Bethancourt for the 1-1 score. With one out in the fifth, Barrett Kleinknecht took a Taylor Jordan pitch deep to left giving Rome a 2-1 lead.

The seventh inning proved fatal for the Braves as Hagerstown exploded for five runs highlighted by a two RBI double by Michael Taylor. The Suns added insurance runs in the eighth and ninth for the 8-2 victory.

Paul Applebee (1-1) gets the win while Rome's Carlos Perez (2-3) is hit with the loss.
