Las Vegas Pulls away from Chihuahuas

May 3, 2016 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
El Paso Chihuahuas News Release

The Las Vegas 51s scored nine runs after the sixth inning to turn a close game into a lopsided 15-6 loss for the El Paso Chihuahuas. Each team collected 17 hits, which were the most allowed by Chihuahuas' pitchers in a 2016 game. Casey McElroy went 3-for-5 in the loss for El Paso and is now eight for his last 12 at the plate.

Hunter Renfroe threw a ball from the right field warning track to third base to cut down a Las Vegas runner and end the top of the first inning. It was Renfroe's league-leading sixth outfield assist of the season. El Paso pitcher Daniel McCutchen served as a pinch hitter for the second time in as many games and lined a ball over center fielder Brandon Nimmo's head for his first career triple. McCutchen now has a stolen base and a triple in the first month of the season.

McElroy pitched a scoreless one third of an inning in the ninth, becoming the first Chihuahuas' position player to take the mound since Cody Decker on September 7, 2015 at Reno. Diego Goris went 2-for-4 with his first Triple-A home run of the season in Tuesday's loss.
